About US Autocomplete

US Autocomplete Pro is an API from Smarty that returns address suggestions as users type, matching input against fully verified USPS addresses. It uses fuzzy logic to handle missing directionals and street suffixes, and allows substitution or partial spelling of street suffixes and secondary designators (for example, ST for AVE, or STR/STREET both matching ST).

The API accepts GET requests over HTTPS at a dedicated endpoint and supports filtering and preference parameters, including common state collections, ZIP codes, and searching on alternate city names, to help narrow results when multiple cities share a state or when disambiguation is needed. It also supports secondary number expansion for addresses with unit or apartment designators.

This is a predecessor product line still current alongside a newer version of US Autocomplete, with a migration guide available for moving between the two. It is intended for developers integrating US address autocomplete functionality into forms or applications, with a free testing account option and SDKs available for multiple programming languages.
