Terms of Service
Last updated 22 September 2026
These terms govern your use of Public APIs and its sister site Dev Resources (the “sites”), run by Marcel Cruz, an individual based in Spain (“we”, “us”). By using the sites you agree to them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the sites. How we handle personal data is explained in our Privacy Policy.
1. The directory
The sites are free, curated directories of public APIs. Listings describe products and services run by third parties, not by us. We check submissions, but we don’t endorse any listed product and can’t guarantee that listings are accurate, complete, up to date, safe or available. Using a listed product is between you and its provider, under their terms.
Some placements on the sites are paid advertising (see section 6), and some outbound links are affiliate links that may earn us a commission at no extra cost to you. Neither affects which APIs we accept.
2. Your account
You don’t need an account to browse. If you create one, keep your sign-in details secure and give accurate information; you are responsible for what happens under your account. You can ask us to delete your account at any time through the contact form.
3. Acceptable use
When using the sites, don’t:
- break the law or infringe anyone’s rights;
- submit spam, malware, phishing, scams, or links to illegal content, or impersonate someone else;
- interfere with the sites, probe or bypass their security, or load them with automated traffic. If you want our data, the listings are available in our public GitHub repositories;
- create accounts automatically or in bulk, or misuse the contact and report forms.
We may limit or suspend access for anyone who does.
4. Submitting a listing
When you submit a API, you confirm that the information is accurate, and that you have the right to share it and any content you upload with it, such as logos.
You keep ownership of what you submit. You give us a free, worldwide, non-exclusive, perpetual licence to host, reproduce, edit, adapt, display and distribute it as part of the sites, our newsletter, our social media and our public GitHub repositories, where listing data is published under the MIT licence. This includes editing descriptions, generating summaries and taking screenshots of the submitted website.
Listings are curated. We decide which APIs to accept, and we may edit, reorder, reject or remove any listing at our discretion, following the guidelines shown on the submission form. Paying for faster publication or advertising doesn’t guarantee acceptance, a position or a ranking.
5. Our content, reports and complaints
The design, text and other content of the sites, except for the listing data and third-party material, belong to us. Product names, logos and trademarks belong to their owners and are shown only to identify their products.
If you think a listing is illegal, infringes your rights or breaks these terms, use the “Report” button on the listing or the contact form. Tell us which listing it is and why. We review every report and act on it. If we remove or restrict content you submitted, you can ask us for the reasons and ask us to reconsider through the contact form.
6. Advertising and paid services
Our paid services, advertising plans and “skip the queue”, are sold for business and professional use. Payments are processed by Stripe. Prices are shown in US dollars on the Advertise page and the checkout page before you pay, plus any taxes that apply.
What you get
Each advertising plan includes the placements described on the Advertise page when you buy it. Some placements rotate among advertisers, and impression estimates are based on our past traffic. Traffic changes, so we don’t guarantee any number of visitors, impressions, clicks, sign-ups or other results. Skip the queue publishes a pending listing without waiting in the review queue; it doesn’t guarantee acceptance, and a listing that breaks our guidelines can still be rejected or removed.
Your ad content
You are responsible for the logos, banner text and links you give us, and confirm they are accurate, lawful and don’t infringe anyone’s rights. We may decline or remove ad content that breaks these terms or our guidelines.
Billing, renewal and cancellation
Advertising plans are subscriptions billed monthly or yearly in advance, and renew automatically until you cancel. You can cancel or change your plan at any time: sign in with the email address you used at checkout, open My listings and choose Manage billing. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you have paid for, and your placements run until then. Skip the queue is a one-time payment. If we change a plan’s price, the new price applies from your next renewal after we tell you, so you can cancel before it does.
Refunds
We don’t refund partly used billing periods or skip-the-queue payments once the listing is published. We give a full refund if we reject your listing or ad before it goes live, or if we can’t deliver what you paid for. We don’t refund when we remove content because it breaks these terms. Nothing here limits refund rights you have by law.
Consumers in the EU
If you buy as a consumer rather than for your business, you normally have 14 days to withdraw from the purchase. Because our services start straight after payment, by buying you ask us to start immediately. If you withdraw from a subscription within 14 days, we refund it minus the part of the service already provided. You lose the right to withdraw once a service has been fully provided, for example when a skip-the-queue listing has been published. To withdraw, write to us through the contact form.
7. No warranty
The sites are provided “as is” and “as available”. To the extent the law allows, we give no warranties about the sites or the listings, including that they will be uninterrupted, error-free, or fit for a particular purpose.
8. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, such as lost profits, data or business, nor for any loss caused by listed third-party products. Our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or €100 if you paid nothing.
None of this limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, intent or gross negligence, or any other liability that can’t be limited by law, including your rights as a consumer.
9. Suspension and termination
You can stop using the sites and ask us to delete your account at any time. We may suspend or close accounts, and remove listings or ads, that break these terms. If we end a paid service for reasons other than a breach of these terms, we refund the unused part.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms; the date at the top shows the latest version. If a change significantly affects advertisers or account holders, we will tell them by email or on the site before it takes effect. Continuing to use the sites after that means you accept the new terms.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Spain, and disputes go to the courts of Spain. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live, and can bring a claim in your local courts.
12. Contact
Questions about these terms? Write to us through the contact form (choose “Something else”).
