About BigDataCloud's Free API

BigDataCloud's Free API package provides four client-side REST APIs that require no API key, sign-up, or authentication: a reverse geocoding API that converts GPS coordinates to city, locality and postcode; a public IP address API that returns the caller's current public IP; a client info API that returns IP address and parsed User-Agent information; and an "Am I Roaming" API that detects mobile roaming status in real time. The APIs are edge-deployed and intended for direct use in browser or mobile app clients rather than from servers.

The reverse geocoding endpoint attempts GPS-based location first and falls back to IP-based location if GPS permission is denied. The service does not store user data and discards processed coordinates. Coverage includes seas, oceans and uninhabited areas in addition to populated regions, and the package includes proxy, bot and roaming detection in a single call.

This free tier is aimed at developers building mobile apps, web applications, or prototypes that need location or IP/device information without backend infrastructure, API key management, or sign-up steps. It is free for both commercial and non-commercial use under the provider's fair use policy, and additional paid products (IP Geolocation, Reverse Geocoding, Phone & Email Verification, Network Engineering) are available as upgrades from the same provider.
