QR tag is an API for generating QR code images that can be embedded directly on a website. Requests are made through a URL structure that returns the QR code as either a PNG or SVG image, with parameters for pixel size and background transparency. By default the generated code links to the page it is embedded on, using the HTTP referrer, but a specific target URL can be set with a "url" query parameter instead.

The service is free to use and does not require authentication for requests. Usage is capped at 1,000 requests per 10 minutes per application, and generated QR codes are cached for 3 days, in contrast to 365 days for the provider's main service, reflecting its intended use for direct sharing rather than long-term storage.

It is aimed at developers who want to add QR code generation to a website without running their own generation logic, using a simple image-tag-based integration.
