Pusher Channels is a hosted realtime messaging service that provides managed WebSocket connections with automatic fallbacks, letting applications publish events from a server and subscribe to them from web, mobile, or IoT clients. It exposes a pub/sub event-based API along with presence channels for tracking online users, a queryable API for application and channel state, and webhooks for capturing client events. Client and server libraries are available for PHP, Node, Ruby, ASP, Java, Python, and Go on the publish side, and JavaScript, Android, and iOS (Swift and Objective-C) on the subscribe side.

The service is aimed at developers building realtime features such as dashboards and charts, presence indicators, live location tracking, multiplayer game state synchronization, collaboration and activity feeds, in-app chat, and live results or scores. It includes end-to-end encryption and is GDPR and HIPAA compliant.

An Enterprise plan with custom pricing is available for larger-scale connection and message volumes.
