This repository provides unofficial documentation for the Lowy Institute's Asia Power Index API, an undocumented backend used by the Lowy Institute's annual Asia Power Index project. The Asia Power Index, launched in 2018, ranks the relative power of Asian states by measuring resources and influence, tracking shifts in the regional balance of power over time.

The documentation covers endpoints for retrieving world topology data, lists of countries with power and score data, individual country data by slug (including score, influence, and geographic coordinates), country scores and rankings by year from 2018 onward, and network data covering economic, cultural, defence, and diplomatic dimensions. The underlying API is hosted at power.lowyinstitute.org and was reverse-engineered from the official Lowy Institute website rather than published by the institute itself.

The repository is intended for developers who want to build applications or tools using Asia Power Index data. It is licensed under GNU GPLv3, accepts contributions via issues and pull requests, and is maintained with the stated intent to remove the documentation if requested by the Lowy Institute. The repository has been archived by its owner as of November 3, 2025 and is now read-only.
