The DBX Platform is Dropbox's developer platform for integrating file storage, sharing, previews, and search into third-party applications. It provides SDKs for Swift, .NET, Java, JavaScript, Objective-C, and Python, along with a core HTTP API and documentation for developers using other languages via community SDKs.

The platform exposes APIs for working with Dropbox accounts and content: the Files API and Paper API for creating, reading, editing, moving, and deleting files; webhooks for change notifications; Chooser and Saver components for selecting and saving content; the File Properties API for custom metadata; the File Requests API for automated document collection; and the Sharing API for managing shared links and folders. For business use, the Dropbox Business APIs provide admin functionality and user/team management, the Events API supports team audit logging, and the Team Folders API organizes team content.

Dropbox Sign is a separate eSignature API offered on the platform for adding electronic signature functionality to applications. Dropbox reports 50 billion API calls per month and a technical support forum for developers, and cites Dow Jones, Zapier, Smartsheet, and Slack as companies that have built with the Dropbox APIs.
