About ShotOG

ShotOG is an API for generating Open Graph images programmatically, deployed on an edge network. It exposes GET and POST endpoints to create images from parameters such as title, subtitle, eyebrow text, author, and template, with output as PNG or SVG at configurable dimensions. A batch endpoint generates up to 20 images in a single request, returning base64-encoded data URIs.

The API supports multiple templates (basic, blog, product, social, event, changelog, testimonial, announcement) and allows customization of background, text, and accent colors, custom fonts via URL, and avatar or logo images depending on template. Response headers report cache status and render timing broken down by SVG generation and PNG conversion steps.

Access is via an API key passed through a header or query parameter, with self-service key creation and a usage-check endpoint. A demo mode without a key allows 10 requests per day; authenticated free-tier keys have a 500 request monthly limit. A TypeScript/JavaScript SDK is available via npm, offering both URL generation and direct image buffer generation.
