Remove.bg provides an HTTP API that automatically removes the background from images in a single call. It accepts source images either as direct file uploads or via a URL reference, requires the input image to contain a foreground subject (such as a person, product, animal, or car), and returns the result as an image file or JSON-encoded data, with output resolution up to 50 megapixels.

Client libraries and sample code are provided for Bash/cURL, Node.js, Python, Ruby, PHP, Java, .NET, Swift, and Objective-C. Authentication uses an API key passed via the X-Api-Key header.

The service is aimed at developers integrating background removal into applications or workflows. An API key is required to use the service, and the first 50 API calls per month are free.
