About Sefaria

Sefaria provides an API for accessing the Sefaria Library, a digital collection of Jewish texts and the network of links and relationships between them. The API exposes endpoints for retrieving text editions and versions, index and table-of-contents metadata for books, links and related content such as commentaries and parallel passages, calendars and study schedules, topics and topic graphs, lexicon and word-completion data, translations and language listings, manuscript images, social media image generation, sheets, and collections.

All currently documented endpoints can be accessed without API keys, tokens, or authorization. The reference is powered by an OpenAPI spec and includes interactive playgrounds for the endpoints, along with tutorials covering example use cases such as building a Dvar Torah outliner, a Tanakh trivia game, and data visualizations.

The API is intended for developers and researchers building web or mobile applications around Jewish texts, or working with Sefaria's data on text relationships, topics, and multilingual translations.
