About Sefaria

Sefaria provides an API for accessing its library of Jewish texts and the interconnections between them, including commentaries, parallel passages, and topic-based links. The API covers text retrieval across multiple versions and languages, along with metadata, indexes, and tables of contents for the underlying book collection. Endpoints are organized around texts, links and relationships, study calendars and schedules, topics, lexicon and word completion tools, manuscripts, sheets, and social media image generation.

The API can be used without API keys, tokens, or authorization for all currently documented endpoints. It is intended for developers and researchers building web or mobile applications, data visualizations, or tools that work with Jewish texts, translations, and their relationships, and includes tutorials such as building a Dvar Torah outliner and a Tanakh trivia game.
