About Random Profiles

Random Profiles is a REST API that generates fictional user profiles and company records for software development, testing, and prototyping. Profiles include over 100 fields covering name, contact details, identity, job, address, financial data, documents, vehicle, digital activity, education, and social accounts; company records include industry, size, location, leadership, tech stack, and legal information. The API supports filtering by parameters such as gender, age, country, industry, and employee size, deterministic output via a seed parameter, selection of specific field groups, and output in JSON or CSV format. Endpoints cover listing and retrieving individual profiles and companies, random or specific profile photos with configurable size and format, API key requests, an OpenAPI 3.1 spec, and a health check.

The service also provides a command-line interface (installable via npm) for generating profiles from the terminal, exporting to CSV, filtering by parameters like gender and age, and downloading profile photos. A TypeScript types package (random-profiles-types) offers typed response declarations for the API's endpoints, filters, and enumerations. An MCP server (random-profiles-mcp, installable via npm) allows use of the API directly from MCP-compatible AI agents such as Claude or Cursor, with an email-based API key claim on first use.

The product is aimed at developers who need realistic but fictional seed data—covering identity, financial, network, and document-style fields—for populating test environments, prototypes, demos, or AI agent workflows without using real personal data.
