About OpenLigaDB

OpenLigaDB is a free, open JSON API for retrieving and submitting sports results organized around a league schema, with a primary focus on German football data such as the Bundesliga, 2. Bundesliga, 3. Liga, and DFB Pokal, alongside other leagues and sports like ice hockey. Data is fetched via simple URL-based endpoints (e.g., requesting match data for a specific league, season, and matchday) and requires no authentication to read.

The service is community-maintained: registered users can create and manage their own leagues and enter match results, and all entered leagues are publicly retrievable by anyone. Data provided through the API is released under the Open Database License (ODbL).

It is aimed at hobby programmers building applications or websites that need automated access to current football and other sports results, such as prediction games (Tippspiele), statistics applications, and league widgets. Documentation and code samples are available on GitHub.
