Data on corporate entities and directors in many countries.
OpenCorporates provides a REST API exposing company registration data aggregated from official corporate registries and other public sources worldwide. It returns records such as company name, registration number, jurisdiction, incorporation and dissolution dates, company type, current status, registered address, previous names, filings, and officers, along with source and provenance information (source URL, confidence score, source type, and retrieval date) for each data item.
The API returns data as JSON by default, with XML available via a format parameter. Responses that return multiple results, such as searches or company filings, are paginated, with up to 100 results per page. The API also exposes an account_status endpoint for tracking daily and monthly usage.
An API key is required to use the API, with usage limits determined by account type and plan. Access is free for open data projects under OpenCorporates' open licence terms. The service also provides a reconciliation API for use with Open Refine, aimed at matching company names in a dataset to legal entities in the OpenCorporates database.
