About iTunes

The iTunes Search API allows developers to embed search functionality on their websites for content within the iTunes Store, App Store, iBooks Store, and Mac App Store. Supported content types include apps, iBooks, movies, podcasts, music, music videos, audiobooks, and TV shows. It also provides an ID-based lookup request to create mappings between a developer's content library and the digital catalog.

The API permits use of promotional content such as song and music video previews, album art, and app icons, subject to conditions: this content must promote the specific store item it represents, appear proximate to an official "Download on iTunes," "Download on App Store," or "Download on iBooks Store" badge linking to the corresponding store page, and include attribution for song or music video previews. Song and music video previews must be streamed rather than downloaded, saved, cached, or synchronized with video, and promotional content cannot be used for independent entertainment value or to promote other goods or services.

The associated Affiliate Program lets developers earn a commission on qualifying revenue from clicks originating on their website or app that lead into the iTunes Store, App Store, iBooks Store, or Mac App Store.
