Access Forem articles, users and other resources via API.
The Forem API provides programmatic access to Forem, the open-source platform that powers Dev.to. It is documented in two versions: a legacy version 0, which is deprecated, and version 1, the current and recommended version.
Version 1 requires an accept header set to application/vnd.forem.api-v1+json, and many (though not all) endpoints require an api-key header containing a key generated by the user from their Forem account settings page. All version 0 endpoints are available in version 1, though version 1 documentation for them is still being added.
The API also supports working with semantic concepts and embedding-driven semantic search over articles and concepts, covered in separate documentation sections. It is intended for developers building integrations with Forem-based platforms, including Dev.to.
Many V1 endpoints require an api-key header set to a key generated by the user from their Forem settings page. V1 also requires an accept header set to application/vnd.forem.api-v1+json.
