About Advice Slip

Advice Slip is a free JSON API that returns pieces of advice as randomly generated slips. It offers endpoints for retrieving a random advice slip, fetching a specific slip by its ID, and searching for slips containing a given query term, with responses returned as slip, search, or message objects. A JSONP callback parameter is supported for all endpoints, and random advice requests are cached for 2 seconds so repeat requests within that window return the same slip.

The API also provides a daily advice RSS feed in RSS 2.0 format, delivering a single randomly chosen piece of advice each day. It additionally supports the Berg Little Printer device, offering endpoints for subscribing to daily advice slips and a sample edition viewable online.

This service is aimed at developers building applications, feeds, or connected devices that need a simple source of short pieces of advice text, without requiring authentication or payment.
