About FavQs.com

FavQs.com provides a JSON-based REST API for accessing and managing quotes and authors, including a public Quote of the Day endpoint that requires no authentication. Access to other endpoints requires an app token passed via an Authorization header, and calls that act on behalf of a specific user require a separate user session token obtained by creating a session.

The API supports user account management, including creating accounts, updating profile details (login, email, password, social profile pictures via Twitter, Facebook, or Gravatar, and a profanity filter setting), and password reset via email. It returns structured error codes and messages for validation failures, supports ETag-based caching with conditional requests, and enforces rate limiting of 30 requests per 20-second interval per session. Prior API versions are available, with version selectable via request header.

This API is intended for developers building applications that display or manage quotes and author data, with support for user authentication, profile management, and pro-tier account status (including pro expiration dates).
