Endpoints include latest rates, currency conversion between two currencies, historical rates dating back to November 28, 1984, time series data, and a fluctuation endpoint that returns opening/closing rates and percentage change over a period.

The API is authenticated via an API key passed as a URL parameter, with no SDK or OAuth required. Rate refresh frequency, base currency selection, and access to historical/time series/fluctuation endpoints vary by plan: the free Developer plan offers daily updates with a fixed USD base, while paid plans (Starter, Growth, Professional, Enterprise) offer progressively faster refresh intervals down to 60 seconds and support for any base currency.

The service is aimed at developers building checkout flows that display local-currency pricing, invoicing systems handling multi-currency billing and settlement, dashboards reporting multi-currency revenue, and trading or fintech applications requiring frequent FX rate updates. It is also used for cryptocurrency price conversion into fiat currencies. All requests, including on the free tier, use SSL encryption.
