About Apiverket

Apiverket is a unified REST API that aggregates Swedish public data from over 45 government sources into a single, consistent interface, covering more than 280 endpoints across categories including weather, transport, statistics, parliament, health, finance, environment, crime, tax, enforcement, migration, geology, archives, and biodiversity. Source agencies include SMHI, SCB, Riksbanken, Trafikverket, Kolada, Skolverket, Socialstyrelsen, Naturvårdsverket, Riksdagen, Polisen, Bolagsverket, Kronofogden, Skatteverket, and Försäkringskassan, among others.

Access requires a Bearer token, with a test mode (`sk_test_*` keys) that returns curated sandbox data without calling upstream sources, and a live mode (`sk_live_*` keys) that queries the real government APIs with caching. Company registry lookups and searches specifically require a live key. Every API response follows a consistent envelope structure containing metadata (request ID, API version, mode, sources, warnings, rate limit) and a data payload.

The product is aimed at developers building applications that need programmatic access to Swedish government and public sector data without integrating separately with each source agency's own API.

Frequently asked questions

What data sources does Apiverket cover?

It aggregates over 280 endpoints from 45+ Swedish government and public data sources, including SMHI, SCB, Riksbanken, Trafikverket, and Polisen.

How does authentication work?

All /v1/* endpoints require a Bearer token, with sk_test_* keys for sandbox mode and sk_live_* keys for querying real government APIs.

Is there a free way to try the API?

Yes, test mode using an sk_test_ key returns curated sandbox data without calling upstream sources and is always available.

Do I need a live key for company registry lookups?

Yes, real company registry lookups and searches require a live API key rather than a test key.

What format do API responses use?

Every response follows a consistent envelope with a meta object (request ID, API version, mode, sources, warnings, rate limit) and a data object.
