About Scrnify

Scrnify is an API for capturing screenshots and video recordings of web pages. Requests are authenticated with either a simple API key or an HMAC-SHA256 signed key, and parameters control the target URL, capture type (image or video), output format, viewport dimensions, full-page capture, and CSS selector targeting for capturing a specific page element. Image output supports WebP, JPEG, and PNG; video output supports MP4, WebM, and animated GIF, with configurable duration up to 60 seconds.

Additional options include wait conditions before capture (such as network idle, DOM content loaded, or first paint), custom user-agent strings, cookie blocking, and Adblock/uBlock-style filter rules for blocking requests. Responses can be returned as a redirect to the captured asset or as JSON containing the asset URL, and successful captures can be cached for up to 30 days.

Billing is usage-based, with screenshots and video seconds drawn from a shared usage pool and graduated per-unit pricing within each billing period; failed requests and cache hits do not consume usage. The product is aimed at developers who need to programmatically generate screenshots or short video captures of web pages, for use cases such as visual previews, monitoring, or automated content capture.
