About Road511

Road511 is a REST API providing real-time traffic data and truck-aware routing across the United States and Canada. It normalizes data from 65 jurisdictions (50 US states and 13 Canadian provinces) along with FHWA, NBI, NREL, and WZDx sources into a single schema, returned as RFC 7946-compliant GeoJSON. The API exposes two primary resources — events for time-bounded incidents such as accidents, construction, closures, and weather advisories, and features for points of interest including cameras, weigh stations, rest areas, EV charging, and border crossings, covering 60+ feature types. Data can be filtered by jurisdiction, type, severity, bounding box, or radius, and is backed by PostGIS spatial indexing.

The routing endpoint (POST /api/v1/routing/route) computes truck routes between an origin and destination based on a submitted truck profile, then checks the corridor against bridge clearances (using NBI data), posted weight/height/width/length restrictions, hazmat rail-crossing rules, live incidents and construction, weigh and inspection stations, and weather conditions, returning severity-ranked warnings with projected arrival times. It also supports up to three alternative routes, toll cost estimation itemized by toll system and axle/weight class, and Hours-of-Service planning that returns required break/stop points paired with reachable truck parking and rest areas under FMCSA rules.

Additional capabilities include webhook notifications with HMAC-SHA256 signed payloads and automatic retry/backoff, per-source health monitoring with circuit-breaker status, and analytics endpoints covering corridor reliability scores, P50/P95 clearance times, and time-series event trends. The product targets fleet and logistics operators, GIS and mapping teams, mobility analytics teams, and public-sector transportation agencies. It offers a 14-day free trial with no credit card required and a 99.95% uptime SLA.
