API to get Information about a Minecraft Server.
The Minecraft Server Status API returns the status of Minecraft servers by combining the Ping and Query protocols into a single JSON response. Requests are made to an endpoint with the server address appended (a separate endpoint is provided for Bedrock servers), and responses are cached for 5 minutes. Ports do not need to be specified, as the API detects them automatically, and SRV records are supported.
For online servers, the response includes data such as IP, port, hostname, server version and protocol details, MOTD, player count and player list, detected plugins or mods, server software, and a base64-encoded server icon. Offline servers return a minimal response indicating the server is not reachable. A non-empty User-Agent header is required on requests, or the API returns a 403 Forbidden response.
The API is intended for developers who want to integrate live Minecraft server status information into their own applications or websites, rather than checking a single server's status manually through the provider's main site.
The site is ad-free and funded by donations, with no mention of a paid tier for the API.
It supports Java Edition servers via the main endpoint and Bedrock Edition servers via a separate /bedrock/ endpoint.
Data is returned as application/json and includes fields like online status, players, MOTD, plugins, mods, and version info.
A descriptive, non-empty User-Agent request header is required, otherwise the API returns a 403 Forbidden response.
It is for developers who want to integrate the status of Minecraft servers into their own applications.
