About Jokes One

Jokes One provides a REST API for retrieving and searching jokes, supporting endpoints such as joke of the day, random joke retrieval, and category- or query-based search. Jokes can be filtered by content flags such as dirty or racial to allow retrieval of SFW content, and the service supports Knock Knock, Blonde, and Animal joke-of-the-day categories. The API also allows storing and retrieving private jokes.

Responses are available in JSON, XML, and JSONP formats. Public API calls do not require authentication and are rate-limited to 60 calls a day (distributed as 5 calls an hour); paid subscriptions require an API key, passed via the X-JokesOne-Api-Secret header or as an api_key request parameter, and receive increased rate limits according to their plan.

The API is aimed at developers building applications or workflows that integrate humor, such as apps displaying a joke of the day. Free-tier usage requires crediting jokes.one.
