About MCU Countdown

MCU Countdown is an API wrapper built on top of TMDB (The Movie Database) lists that reports the next upcoming production in a given collection, along with the following one after it. The default endpoint tracks the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and named routes are also provided for other collections including Star Wars, the DC Universe, and Matt Reeves' Batman Universe. Users can also query any arbitrary TMDB list by ID, and filter results using a date parameter to find the next release after a specified date.

The API returns JSON data for each production, including title, type (e.g. movie), release date, days until release, an overview, and a poster URL. It is written in Python using Flask and is self-hostable via Docker Compose or a standalone Docker image, requiring a TMDB API key. A hosted production instance is available at whenisthenextmcufilm.com.

This tool is aimed at developers who want to build applications, widgets, or integrations that display countdowns or release information for franchise film/TV productions tracked on TMDB.
