The Last.fm API provides programmatic access to Last.fm's music database, covering albums, artists, tracks, tags, charts, and user listening data. It supports methods for retrieving artist and album information, similar artists and tracks, top tracks and albums by tag or chart, and user-specific data such as recent tracks, loved tracks, friends, and weekly listening charts.

The API also supports scrobbling, allowing applications to submit now-playing and listened-to track data to a user's Last.fm account, along with authentication methods for web, mobile, and desktop applications and a tagging system for adding, removing, and retrieving tags on albums, artists, and tracks.

Access requires an API account. Commercial or research/academic use requires contacting Last.fm directly prior to use.
