About Jamendo

Jamendo provides a REST-like API for accessing a catalog of over half a million music tracks. It exposes more than 20 read methods covering albums, tracks, artists, playlists, radios, reviews, and user data such as favorites and fan status, plus 5 write methods for managing a user's library (setuser, fan, favorite, like, dislike, myalbum). Responses are available in JSON, JSONP, or XML format, and read methods use GET requests while write methods use POST.

Authentication is available both via a basic client_id for read access and via OAuth2 for accessing and modifying a Jamendo user's data. The API requires SSL for parts of the OAuth2 workflow. A developer portal account is needed to obtain a client_id and register an application, and developers must accept Jamendo's API terms of use; the portal also provides application statistics and alerts.

This API is intended for developers building music applications, discovery tools, or mash-ups using Jamendo's independent artist catalog.
