IP2Proxy is a hosted REST API web service that detects anonymous proxies, VPNs, TOR exit nodes, search engine robots, and residential proxies by IP address. It accepts an IP address and returns proxy detection results along with associated location data, supporting both JSON and XML response formats over HTTP or HTTPS GET requests.

The service offers 11 package tiers (PX1 through PX11), each returning a progressively larger set of fields — starting with country code, country name, and proxy status, and expanding through proxy type, region, city, ISP, domain, usage type, ASN, last-seen data, threat classification, residential proxy flags, and VPN provider name. Each query consumes credits depending on the package selected, with package purchases granting 10,000 credits valid for one year.

It is intended for developers and site operators who want to filter or flag traffic from anonymous proxies, VPNs, TOR users, spammers, scanners, botnets, or bots at the point of request. The page notes that new registrations for this web service are no longer being accepted, with IP2Location.io offered as the replacement service.
