About ip.app

ip.app is a free API for retrieving a client's public IP address and related request metadata. It supports GET, POST, and HEAD methods and returns data in plain text, JSON, or HTTP header formats, with the detected IP address and IP version always included via the x-ipapp-ip and x-ipapp-ip-version headers regardless of endpoint or format used.

The service exposes multiple endpoints beyond the root IP lookup: /asn for the ASN and organization associated with the requesting IP, /headers for echoing back the HTTP headers sent by the client, /loc for location details, /sec for security and bot-detection information, /tz for timezone, /ua for the user-agent string, and /whereami for geolocation coordinates compatible with the Mozilla Location Service API. Usage examples are provided for cURL, wget, Python, JavaScript, PHP, Perl, Ruby, PowerShell, C#, Swift, Dart/Flutter, Rust, HTTPie, and raw netcat/HTTP requests.

The product is aimed at developers who need a simple, ad-free and tracker-free way to programmatically determine an IP address or inspect request metadata from scripts, servers, or applications, and it also documents an OpenAPI specification, an MCP server, and a Python package for integration.
