About Instatus

Instatus provides an API for managing status pages, accessible under a REST-based endpoint at api.instatus.com. Requests are authenticated with a bearer API token obtained from user developer settings, and require a Page ID that identifies the project.

The API covers status pages, workspaces, components, incidents and incident updates, maintenances and maintenance updates, general notices, outages, teammates, subscribers, metrics, monitors, monitoring integrations, routing rules, escalation policies, and on-call schedules. It defines fixed status values for pages (e.g. UP, HASISSUES, and various degraded/outage states), components (OPERATIONAL, UNDERMAINTENANCE, DEGRADEDPERFORMANCE, PARTIALOUTAGE, MAJOROUTAGE), incidents (INVESTIGATING, IDENTIFIED, MONITORING, RESOLVED), and maintenances (NOTSTARTEDYET, INPROGRESS, COMPLETED).

The API is intended for developers building or automating integrations with Instatus status pages, such as updating incident state, managing components, or syncing monitoring data programmatically. Requests and responses, including errors, are JSON-encoded, and error responses include a code and message.
