Infermedica API provides access to Infermedica's Medical Guidance Platform, offering AI-driven symptom assessment, triaging, and patient navigation to appropriate levels of care. The system works by receiving initial evidence of a user's medical state (symptoms, risk factors, and demographics), then an Inference Engine asks additional questions, collects further evidence, analyzes it, and returns probable conditions, a triage level, specialist recommendations, and other calls to action. Results are generated through statistical algorithms and AI-driven analysis. The collected data can be integrated into web pages, mobile apps, member portals, call centers, or systems like electronic health records.

The API is split into two products: Platform API, an out-of-the-box solution for common healthcare workflows such as intelligent symptom checkers, adaptive patient intake tools, and nurse triage support systems; and Engine API, intended for building custom solutions tailored to specific customer needs. Engine API processes only statistical and de-identified information and does not allow submission of personal data or store personal information, though it retains request history for statistical analysis. Platform API is stateful and does allow storage of personal data, with safeguards for data security and removal, and includes an anonymous mode option for Triage.
