Humor API provides programmatic access to a database of over 50,000 jokes and 450,000 memes, organized into 27 joke categories including Knock Knock, Chuck Norris, Yo Momma, Dark, Political, and NSFW content. The joke endpoints support category-based or random retrieval, searching, submitting new jokes, and up/downvoting. The memes API allows searching by query and content type (image or video), including searching for text within meme images, as well as retrieving random memes.

Beyond jokes and memes, the API includes a gif search covering reaction, animal, person, and cartoon gifs, plus endpoints for generating insults, generating praises, and generating nonsense words. The nonsense word feature can also rate the funniness of user-submitted words using a model trained on roughly five thousand human-rated words.

The service offers a free tier limited to 10 points per day and 1 request per second with forum support, and paid tiers (Jack, Jester, Joker) that raise daily point allowances, per-point overage rates, and request-per-second limits, with email support available on the higher tiers. The service is aimed at developers building applications that incorporate humor content such as jokes, memes, and gifs.
