About Dungeons and Dragons (Alternate)

Open5e is an open-source resource site and REST API for Dungeons & Dragons 5th edition content, covering monsters, magic items, character resources, classes, species, spells, backgrounds, feats, equipment, and rules such as conditions. Content is drawn from the 5e SRD and other OGL sources, with a search feature for accessing SRD material through an app or website. The site includes an encounter builder and lets users edit and select which content sources are active.

The project is built with a Django REST Framework API server and a Vue.js (Nuxt) frontend, and its source code is hosted on Github, where contributions and homebrew or third-party OGL content submissions are accepted via pull request. It is aimed at game masters, players, and developers building tools or apps that need programmatic access to 5e SRD data.

The site is funded through Patreon donations to cover server costs and remain ad-free, and maintains a Discord community for discussion of development, rules, tools, art, and general gaming topics.
