About Dota 2

The OpenDota API provides access to Dota 2 match and player data, including advanced statistics extracted from match replays. It covers match details such as scores, objectives, draft picks and bans, team fights, and gold/experience advantages, as well as player profiles, win/loss records, match history, hero statistics, and information on players a given account has played with or against.

Endpoints accept filtering parameters such as patch, game mode, lobby type, region, hero ID, and date range, and support sorting and column projection for match history queries. The API can be used without a key, though registering for a key increases rate limits and usage allowances.

It is intended for developers building tools or applications that analyze Dota 2 matches or player performance, such as stat trackers, coaching tools, or data visualizations. Hero and ability ID mappings needed to interpret the API's numeric identifiers are maintained separately in the dotaconstants repository.
