About DiceBear

DiceBear is an open source avatar library and API that generates deterministic SVG avatars from a seed string such as a username, email, or ID. The same seed always produces the same avatar across platforms. It offers 52 avatar styles ranging from hand-drawn characters to abstract patterns, pixel art, and illustrated designs, with some styles sourced from independent artists under various open licenses and others designed by DiceBear itself.

Avatars can be generated through an HTTP API or through libraries for JavaScript, PHP, Python, Rust, Go, and Dart, as well as a CLI. A no-code editor is also available for creating and customizing avatars by selecting options like hair, eyes, and mouth, with export to PNG. A Figma plugin lets designers create custom avatar styles visually and export them as ready-to-use packages.

The product targets developers building user profiles, chat applications, games, forums, communities, and team collaboration tools who need unique, consistent avatars without requiring image uploads, as well as non-developers who want to create custom profile pictures through the editor. The core library is MIT licensed, and the CDN is sponsored by bunny.net.
