About Data.gov

Data.gov (api.data.gov) is a free API management service operated by the U.S. General Services Administration for federal agencies. It provides a single point of entry through which agencies share government data with the public via APIs, fulfilling GSA's obligations under the Open Government Data Act of 2018.

The service is used by 25 federal agencies, including the Department of Agriculture, Department of Commerce, Department of Justice, NASA, the National Institutes of Health, the U.S. Geological Survey, and the National Park Service, covering more than 450 APIs. It maintains historical and live API analytics, tracked at both the agency level and government-wide, for API keys and queries.

The site offers separate documentation for two audiences: a developer manual for API users and an agency manual for federal agency administrators with admin access to the platform.
