About Covid-19 India

Covid-19 India provides an API and dataset covering COVID-19 statistics for India, aggregated at the state and district levels. Data is available through JSON endpoints (v4, used to power the covid19india.org website) and CSV files covering confirmed, recovered, and deceased case counts, testing numbers, vaccine doses administered, ICMR lab counts, and hospital/ventilator bed occupancy reported in state bulletins.

Data sources include state bulletins, ICMR, MOHFW daily bulletins, and the CoWIN database. Timeseries data is offered at both the India and state/district level, along with statewise daily deltas and cumulative totals. Raw, unaggregated data files are also provided in dated batches, though the documentation recommends using the aggregated CSV or v4 JSON endpoints instead, noting raw sheets are mainly useful for demographic details or source references.

The API is intended for developers and analysts building applications or conducting analysis with India-specific COVID-19 data; JSON endpoint use requires familiarity with JSON parsing. Testing data capture at the district level has been discontinued, and as of August 13th the api.covid19india.org domain and its non-v4 JSON endpoints were deprecated, with traffic redirected to data.covid19india.org. The project is open source.
