About ApogeoAPI

ApogeoAPI provides geographic and financial reference data through a single REST API, covering more than 250 countries, over 5,000 states and provinces, and more than 150,000 cities with coordinates. Responses also include timezone data tied to coordinates, official and spoken languages per country, and live exchange rates across 161 currencies with 25 selectable base currencies, updated every four hours. A separate endpoint geolocates IPv4 or IPv6 addresses using a local MaxMind database, returning country, region, city, timezone, and coordinates.

Authentication uses an X-API-Key header or JWT Bearer tokens, with API keys stored as bcrypt hashes and webhook payloads signed with HMAC SHA-256. List endpoints support pagination, filtering, and sorting, and responses include rate-limit and quota headers. An official Model Context Protocol server is available as an npm package, allowing MCP-compatible AI assistants such as Claude Desktop and Cursor to call the API's endpoints as tools.
