About 1Forge

1Forge is a REST API for real-time forex quote data, covering bid and ask prices for over 700 currency pairs. Data is sourced by connecting directly to brokers and liquidity providers, with price updates for a single pair reported at up to 200 times per second depending on market activity. The service does not offer historical data, though it permits clients to archive quotes locally for internal use.

The API exposes endpoints to fetch quotes for specified currency pairs, list available symbols, convert between currencies, check whether the market is open, and check API usage quota. Requests are served from four server locations (Oregon, Virginia, Taiwan, and Belgium), with routing to the nearest one, and all timestamps are returned in unix/epoch format.

WebSocket streaming is available for clients needing real-time tick-by-tick data, supported through provided PHP and JavaScript libraries, though this is not included on free plans. Additional client libraries are provided for Python 2.7 and Ruby. The service is aimed at developers, brokerages, and options houses requiring forex price data for applications.
