About xColors

xColors is a free, open-source HTTP API for generating and converting colors, built with TypeScript and Express. It returns colors in HEX, RGB, and HSL formats simultaneously as JSON, and supports fetching random colors either unconstrained or filtered by a specified hue (via a numeric value from 0-359 or reserved color names like red, blue, or green). Requests can specify the number of colors to return and restrict results to dark or light shades.

The API also provides dedicated conversion endpoints between HEX, RGB, and HSL color models, each accepting a value parameter in the corresponding format. It is intended for developers who need color data or conversions for use in CSS styling without additional client-side validation. The project can be run locally via Node.js or deployed using the included Dockerfile, and the repository is archived and no longer maintained.
