TheCocktailDB is a JSON API providing data on cocktails and drink ingredients, including search by name, listing by first letter, ingredient lookup, full cocktail detail lookup by ID, and a random cocktail endpoint. It supports filtering by ingredient, alcoholic content, category, and glass type, and provides list endpoints for categories, glasses, ingredients, and alcoholic filters. Drink and ingredient thumbnail images are available in multiple sizes via direct image URLs.

The API is free to use at its basic level using a shared test API key. A paid Premium tier is available for a one-off fee, adding multi-ingredient filtering, popular and recent cocktail lookups, a random-selection endpoint returning 10 drinks at once, access to the full database beyond a 100-item limit, and latest/random image API methods; a production API key is required for public app store releases.

The site also publishes machine-readable resources for AI agents and developers, including an agent guide, a reusable skill file, and OpenAPI V1 and V2 specifications for the JSON endpoints.
