About TasteDive

TasteDive provides a recommendation API covering music, movies, shows, podcasts, books, games, people, places, and brands. Given one or more query items, the API returns similar items in JSON format, with results grouped under a Similar key containing the original query items (Info) and the recommendations (Results). Since 2019 TasteDive operates in partnership with Qloo, and this documented API is described as the legacy version, continuing to be supported until full migration to Qloo's platform occurs.

Access requires requesting an API key, which allows up to 300 requests per hour. Requests are made via a base endpoint using a q parameter (the search query, with optional type-specifying operators like "music:" or "movie:") and a required type parameter specifying the desired result type. Optional parameters include info (to include descriptions and related YouTube clips when available), limit (maximum number of recommendations), and slimit (maximum search results per query item). This API is suited for developers building recommendation or discovery features across entertainment and lifestyle content types.

  • Supports optional info parameter for extended details including description and related YouTube clip
  • Configurable result limits via limit and slimit parameters
