About STAPI

STAPI is a REST API providing access to a database of Star Trek-related information, including characters, performers, species, episodes, spacecraft, books, astronomical objects, and video releases. Data is sourced from Memory Alpha, Star Trek Cards, and Memory Beta, then cleansed, standardized, and organized into a relational model. As of May 2023, the dataset covers 68,603 entities and 103,424 relations between them.

The API is read-only and publicly accessible, with an API Browser for exploration and downloadable OpenAPI specifications. It is written in Java with tests in Groovy and a TypeScript frontend, and client libraries are available in several languages. The project is open source and open to contributions, and is currently in beta, with the API model considered stable and evolving through non-breaking versioned changes.
