API to access annual reports of public US companies.
EDGAR's data.sec.gov APIs provide RESTful, JSON-formatted access to SEC filing data without requiring authentication or API keys. The submissions API returns an entity's filing history, including current and former names and stock exchange/ticker information, keyed by the entity's 10-digit Central Index Key (CIK). Data is updated in real time as filings are disseminated, with the submissions API typically updated in under a second and XBRL APIs in under a minute.
The XBRL data APIs extract financial statement facts (from forms including 10-Q, 10-K, 8-K, 20-F, 40-F, and 6-K) reported under standard US-GAAP or IFRS taxonomies. The company-concept API returns all disclosures for a single company and a single taxonomy concept; the company-facts API returns all concept data for a company in one call; the frames API aggregates one fact per reporting entity for a specified calendar period (annual, quarterly, or instantaneous). Because company fiscal calendars vary, frame data is assembled based on best alignment to calendar quarters or years.
Nightly bulk ZIP archives (companyfacts.zip and submissions.zip) are available for fetching large amounts of data at once, recompiled at approximately 3:00 a.m. ET. The service does not support CORS, and automated access must comply with SEC.gov's Privacy and Security Policy. It is intended for developers and data users needing programmatic access to public company filing histories and structured financial statement data.
The APIs are free to use and require no authentication or API keys.
Data is provided as JSON via REST APIs, with bulk data also available as ZIP files containing the JSON structures.
Submissions data is updated with a typical processing delay of under a second and XBRL data under a minute, with bulk ZIP files republished nightly at approximately 3:00 a.m. ET.
No, data.sec.gov does not support Cross Origin Resource Scripting (CORS).
It is for developers who want to programmatically access EDGAR company filing submissions and XBRL financial statement data.
