About QuizBase

QuizBase is a multilingual trivia API providing access to over 1.2 million questions drawn from 11 open datasets, blended and deduplicated. Content is available in English and Polish, with additional languages available on request. Each question includes a canonical ID for linking translations, along with attribution metadata (author, source, license, license URL) since the underlying data comes from openly licensed sources such as CC-BY-SA, CC-BY, and MIT.

Questions can be filtered by category (24 total), a five-level LLM-calibrated difficulty scale (trivial to expert), question type, tags, subcategories, region, and a quality flag, with filters composable server-side in a single query. Questions also carry region codes reflecting cultural affinity to an audience rather than strict geography, and are grouped under curated topics that link equivalent concepts across languages and synonyms. Three question types are supported: multiple choice and true/false (returned by default), and open answer/text input (opt-in via a query parameter).

The API is documented with an OpenAPI 3.1 specification and includes a TypeScript SDK and an MCP server for use with tools like Claude and Cursor. A free tier is available without a credit card, offering 500 requests per day with access to the full API.
