About Pinata

Pinata is a platform for storing and retrieving content on IPFS, providing file uploading, gateway-based retrieval, and account management tools. It offers an SDK (installable via npm, pnpm, yarn, or bun) and a REST API for uploading files and fetching them by CID through a dedicated Gateway domain. Authentication is handled through API keys and JWTs generated from the Pinata App.

The platform includes features for organizing content, such as Groups for structuring files via the API or web app, and Workspaces for adding team members to a Pinata account to collaborate on projects, including members who do not have their own Pinata account. Additional documented capabilities include presigned URLs, key-values, private IPFS, file vectors, webhooks, dedicated IPFS gateways with access controls, image optimizations, and a CLI.

It is aimed at developers building applications that need to store and serve files via IPFS, with quickstart guides available for frameworks including Next.js, Hono, React, Svelte, Astro, and Remix.
