About PicToText OCR

PicToText OCR is an API that extracts structured JSON data from identity documents, including passports, driver's licenses, and national ID cards, for use in KYC and identity verification workflows. It accepts JPEG, JPG, PNG, WEBP, HEIC, and HEIF images and returns field-level data such as document number, name, gender, issue date, and expiry date, including MRZ data from passports. The service supports documents from 200+ countries and reports 99.8% accuracy on clear scans, with real-world benchmarks ranging from 95% to 99% depending on image quality.

Integration is via a REST API with webhook callbacks, and a live web-based OCR demo is also available. Data is encrypted with TLS 1.3 in transit and AES-256 at rest, and files and OCR results are automatically purged after 30 days.

The product is aimed at developers and teams building KYC, onboarding, and fraud-prevention workflows. Pricing includes a free tier (100 API calls on signup, unlimited web tool usage, no card required), a Premium plan at $29.90/month for 10,000 API calls, and an Enterprise plan at $249/month for 100,000 API calls; prepaid credit packs starting at $3.99 are also available, with credits that never expire.
