About OpenHolidays API
OpenHolidays API is an open data project providing a REST API for public holiday and school holiday data. It covers over 35 countries across Europe, the Americas, and Africa, including Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Brazil, Mexico, and South Africa, with data available from 2020 onward (public holidays only for some countries, such as Brazil, Mexico, and Sweden).
The API returns data as JSON or iCal format. Endpoints allow querying supported countries, available languages, principal administrative subdivisions (such as federal states or cantons), and groups (used for school holiday filters not tied to administrative units, such as language regions). Public and school holiday queries can be filtered by country, subdivision, date range (up to three years), and output language, with holiday names available in each country's official language(s) as well as German and English translations. Country codes follow ISO 3166-1, language codes follow ISO 639-1, and subdivision codes follow ISO 3166-2 and HASC.
This service is aimed at developers who need programmatic access to holiday data, such as for scheduling, calendar, or localization applications.
