data.gouv.fr is the French government's open data platform, providing a catalog of public datasets and APIs produced by government administration and civil society. It is operated by the Direction Interministérielle du Numérique (DINUM) and runs on the open-source udata engine.

The site includes a community layer where users share and discuss ways of reusing published data, with around 5,000 documented reuses, 79,000 registered users, and 17,000 discussions. It also links out to a set of thematic sub-platforms covering ecology, transport, weather, culture, and logistics data, each run in partnership with the relevant French ministry or public agency.

The platform is intended for people who need access to French public-sector data or who publish and reuse such data, including developers, researchers, administrations, and civil society organizations. Datasets are made available under the Open Licence 2.0.
