About Climatiq

Climatiq is a REST API for calculating carbon emissions (CO2e) from operational activity data, using emission factors drawn from its own database. It converts inputs such as freight shipments, business travel, energy consumption, procurement spend, and product manufacturing details into emissions estimates, and includes a search endpoint for finding applicable emission factors and a data versioning system for tracking updates to underlying factors.

Specific endpoints cover intermodal freight (air, sea, road), travel (car, airplane, train, hotel stays), energy (electricity, heat and steam, fuel), procurement (with adjustments for inflation, currency conversion, tax, trade, and transport margins), and product carbon footprints built from manufacturing data and bills of materials. A Mapping Agent feature estimates emissions from unstructured input like receipts or purchase orders. Support for private emission factors allows organizations to upload and use their own data alongside the built-in database.

The product is aimed at developers and companies integrating carbon accounting into their own software and systems, including use cases like corporate carbon footprint (CCF) reporting, product carbon footprint (PCF) creation, and Scope 3 emissions calculations under the GHG Protocol. Integrations are also available for Excel, Google Sheets, and Data Studio, and documentation includes guides for ISO 14083 freight reporting compliance.
