The OrgHunter Charity API (marketed as Charity Search) provides programmatic access to a database of over 2.5 million US charities and 87,000 Canadian charities, sourced from IRS-registered nonprofit records. It offers real-time charity vetting beyond the IRS Pub78 data source, with over 100 data points per organization.

The API is organized into several endpoints: a Charity Search Summary API for querying the database by EIN, name, category, city, state, or ZIP code with pagination and an eligibility filter; a Charity NTEE Classification API using the National Taxonomy of Exempt Entities system for categorization; a Charity Basic API for current IRS status information; a Charity GeoLocation API for location data suited to map integrations; a Charity Financial API providing details from a charity's latest Form 990 for financial reporting; and a Charity Premium API combining financial and mapping data. A website widget plugin is also available for embedding charity search directly into a site.
